2007 Favorites
It has become an annual pre-New Years ritual for me to revisit photos I posted during the past year and try to come up with something of a “favorites of the year” list.
As I begin writing this, I actually have one favorite photograph of the year - but I’m not going to say which one it is. I have several reasons for this. I realize that I often see my photographs very differently than others do, and I’m fine with the idea that you might like a different one more. As is often the case, the photo in question is one that you cannot really “see” in the small jpg images I post here - it works far better as a print. In addition, the meaning of this particular image for me is connected to the experience of the place and time in which it was made. And those are all the hints I’m going to provide… ;-)

On a rainy evening during a late-season solo backpack trip I had this lake and most of the surrounding basin almost completely to myself for three days.

In early July I walked in to this lake in the late afternoon, scoped out sunset shots, and spent a relaxed hour or two waiting for “golden hour” light to arrive.
